Operation Slammin' Famine

What is Operation Slammin' Famine?

OSF is a food packing event through Feed My Starving Children that will bring together over 600 volunteers on August 22nd to assemble 125,000 meals for a special needs community in Haiti! Our volunteers will consist of friends with special needs and their families here in Denver, along with volunteers from local churches, ministries, and the Denver metro community. Additionally, we will host a fun after party with desserts, fun games for adults, and activities for kids such as face-painting, balloon artistry and more!

How can I help?

There are several ways you can get involved with this event:

  1. Volunteer to help us pack food on August 22nd during one of our packing sessions - 1:30pm or 4pm. Group reservations available.
  2. Donate $22 and receive a free event t-shirt. This donation buys 100 meals!
  3. Sponsor a table and bring 14 friends! Just $500... you receive brand exposure at the event and receive 15 event t-shirts.
  4. Host a fun carnival game at the after party. Great opportunity for church small groups to get involved.

If you are interested in donating, sponsoring or hosting a carnival game please contact us at osf@activ8sports.com.

Are volunteers needed?
Yes!  We need approximately 600 volunteers to help pack food. We also need around 60 volunteers to help set up and clean up, to help with onsite registration, and help with hospitality. Email us at osf@activ8sports.com if you are able to help in these areas.

How many shifts are we required to attend and how long do they last?
Volunteers are only expected to attend one shift but are more than welcome to participate in both shifts. Each shift lasts approximately 2 hours which will include registration, orientation, food packing, and the dismissal.

If I register my child with special needs to volunteer, do I need to attend with him/her?
We will leave this answer up to you. If your child is high functioning and you believe our volunteers can adequately serve your child and get them involved with the packing event then we are happy to host them. However, if your child needs special attention in any way we believe it best you serve alongside your child and assist them as he/she packs the food.

How can I help other than volunteering?
You can invite your friends and family to volunteer with you, you can financially contribute to help us purchase these meals, your company or small group can sponsor a table for $400, or you can host a fun game at the after party. All of these roles are vital to the success of this event!

Can my children serve with me?
The minimum age to volunteer is 5 years old. However, we recommend that groups of youth be 3rd grade and older. Everyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

What is the sponsorship program?
We are offering table sponsorships for $500. This includes your company sign on the table, 15 reserved volunteer spots on that table who will all receive event t-shirts. Please contact osf@activ8sports.com if you would like to discuss a greater financial sponsorship.

Why is ACTIV8 Sports & Special Forces hosting Operation Slammin' Famine?
Activ8 Sports is a community of adult athletes who love giving back to those needing a brighter day. We have a heart for children with special needs and their families. Operation Slammin' Famine is a great way to serve alongside families and their children with special needs to help a community in Haiti in desperate need of food and one that serves children with disabilities.
